Session Summary
The programme commenced at 10 a.m. with Mrs Ifunanya introducing the Literary Renaissance Foundation (LRF) to the pupils of Sunshine Academy. She outlined the mission and vision of the organisation and shared the history of how LRF began.
She explained that the foundation was established to make books popular, knowledge valued, and intelligence celebrated.
Mrs Ifunanya advised the pupils to focus more on their books and less on the Internet and television. According to her, many children today prefer watching TikTok videos and films instead of embracing reading — their true key to success and survival.
She observed that when given assignments or asked questions, many students prefer to browse the Internet rather than search for knowledge in books.
She also shared an example of a man who failed an important interview for a managerial position in an oil company because, although he could speak, he was unable to read the written symbols on the test paper.
Some pupils were invited to read aloud from a storybook, and those who struggled with pronunciation were guided through the words. Afterwards, the pupils participated in a question-and-answer session to reinforce understanding.
Conclusion
Mrs Ifunanya thanked the school for hosting her and presented gifts – including exercise books, story books, and pens – to pupils who read aloud and answered questions correctly.
