Mrs Ifunanya O.

Session Summary

The programme commenced at 12 p.m., with Mrs Ifunanya introducing the Literary Renaissance Foundation (LRF) to the pupils of Our Shield International School.

She explained that Babatunde Oladele founded the LRF to help build change and bring transformation to the nation.

Mrs Ifunanya told the children that reading, listening, and comprehension come before memory and retention, which in turn lead to productive output such as writing and speaking.

According to her, education is a combination of speaking, reading, comprehension, and writing.

She gave instances of notable figures such as  Agbani Darego, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala , and Professor Wole Soyinka – individuals who rose to prominence through a strong culture of reading.

Finally, she encouraged the pupils to read diligently, reminding them that reading is their  ladder to stardom – the sure path to success  and greatness.

Primary pupils were invited to read aloud from a storybook, and those who struggled with pronunciation were guided through the words. Afterwards, the pupils participated in a  question-and-answer session to reinforce learning.

Conclusion

Mrs Ifunanya thanked the school for hosting her and presented  gifts – including   exercise books, story books, and pens – to pupils who read aloud and answered questions correctly.
