The Literary Renaissance Foundation (LRF), an advocate of mass literacy and a promoter of reading culture in Nigeria, held its second monthly Book Reading of the year 2025, graced by an international author, C.M. Okonkwo, who served as the guest reader on Sunday, 2nd February, 2025.
C.M. Okonkwo is an HR professional by day and an award-winning storyteller by night. She holds three degrees from France and has self-published over 40 books. Her talents have earned her critical acclaim, with wins and nominations from prestigious competitions such as the African Book Club Short Story Prize, Quramo Writer’s Prize, the African Writer’s Award, and the Wattpad Short Story Contest. Her works have also appeared in numerous publications and magazines.
The event commenced with Babatunde Oladele, the founder of the Literary Renaissance Foundation, who introduced LRF, invited attendees to introduce themselves, and then welcomed the guest speaker to the stage. Following this, Oluwafunmilayo Makinde of LRF, read the biography of the guest.
The book of the month, Where Lonely Hearts Meet, tells the story of Fela, a married man who, despite his relationship status, felt lonely and unhappy until he was introduced to a website called, ‘Where Lonely Hearts Meet.’ The book highlights the importance of communication in relationships, particularly in marriage.
The event was commendable, educative, and engaging. The audience thoroughly enjoyed the book reading, continuously requesting more from the author of the month.
