LRF Monthly Book Reading July Edition: Street Tears
The Literary Renaissance Foundation’s (LRF) monthly book reading was held on Sunday, 7 July 2024. This month’s feature was Davy Fidel, author of Street Tears.
The session was moderated by Tejumade Oke. The Executive Director of LRF, Babatunde Oladele, explained that the Book Reading initiative aims to address the issue of children out of school and disenfranchised children returning to education. He further stated that it is designed to promote a reading culture among Nigerian youths.
The LRF Book Reading sessions showcases Nigerian authors allowing them to read portions of their books, receive feedback from the audience, and gain useful suggestions on how to improve subsequent editions.
Davy Fidel, the guest for the month, is an author, writer, poet, novelist, tutor, and social critic. He has recently published two poetry books “Street Tears” and “The Tomb Will Tell You a Story.-” Fidel has worked with On The Way Books and More, situated in Alberta Canada as a content writer and proofreader. He initiated the Read A Book initiative to promote reading culture.
Fidel read out some interesting and educative parts from his collections such as Today, Potholes, and Everyday. These topics helped the audience understand that today was once future of yesterday, tomorrow is ahead and we don’t know what it holds, we only know today. He further compared life, humans, and the situations around us.
The participants made useful contributions and suggestions on how to improve future editions.
