An Altar of Poetry with Modupe Sefunmi at the February LRF Book Reading

Participants were dazzled by the poetic renditions of the author of the day, Modupe Sefunmi, at the February edition of the Literary Renaissance Foundation’s (LRF) Monthly Book Reading, held on Sunday, 5 March 2023.

The programme started at 5:10 pm with the Executive Director of the Foundation, Babatunde Oladele, talking briefly about the structure of the LRF, the LRF Volunteer Workforce, the Reading Culture Dialogue and why each was formed, while Mary Ogundipe, the Foundation’s Administrator, briefly read the biography of the reader of the day, Modupe Sefunmi.

Modupe Sefunmi is a passionate teacher, poet, lyrist and crocheter. She enjoys teaching children and teenagers the skill of poetry writing and crocheting. Modupe lives in Ilorin, Kwara State with her husband, David and their two children, Grace and Wonderful.

Her Rhythm of Many Seasons is a collection of poems that delves into issues of human feelings and nature. It also captures the different ebbs and flows of life. Modupe Sefunmi proceeded to read some poetry from her collection to the audience. Some of the poems include:

  • Fear of Love
  • Season of Hope and Despair
  • The Wind Whispers Peace to Me
  • Rhythm of Many Seasons

After the reading, participants were allowed to ask questions and express their views. A few writers were also invited to talk about their inspiration and beginnings.

The meeting ended at 6:55 pm with the Executive Director thanking everyone who attended the reading and inviting them to make it a date next month on 5 March 2023.
