Session Summary
The programme commenced at 9:00 a.m. with Mrs. Adegoke introducing the Literary Renaissance Foundation (LRF) to the pupils. Two pupils who struggled to pronounce the foundation’s name were assisted in doing so correctly.
She explained that renaissance means to reawaken something that is forgotten or lost. She emphasised that the foundation aims to revive the reading culture among young people. She noted that, in the past, children found joy in reading storybooks during their leisure time. However, this habit has faded due to the growing influence of technology and social media. She encouraged the pupils to take advantage of the many books available online for free.
Miss Chinyere then explained the vision and mission of the foundation. Pupils were invited to read these statements aloud, and those who struggled with pronunciation were guided through the words.
Mrs. Adegoke urged the students to develop reading as a hobby. To encourage active participation, two pupils were invited to read aloud from a storybook, and they were gifted the books they read. Additionally, the students learned a new song reinforcing the message that good readers become good leaders.
Awards Distribution:
- 6 pencils and erasers were given to students who answered questions.
- 2 storybooks were awarded to pupils who read aloud.
The session concluded at 10:00 a.m., with LRF representatives presenting two storybooks and a textbook to the school management. One of the teachers expressed gratitude for the foundation’s visit and its efforts in promoting literacy.
