LRF Hosts September Book Reading With Matthew Simpa

The Literary Renaissance Foundation held an enthralling book reading session in the month of September  via Zoom on Sunday, 1 September  2024.

The session was anchored by Babatunde Oladele, the CEO of the foundation. He began by welcoming everyone, before giving participants the opportunity  to introduce themselves, mentioning their location and career, before   introducing the author. In his opening remarks,  Oladele emphasised the importance of promoting local literature and fostering a culture of reading within the community. He encouraged everyone present to engage with the stories that shape their identities and experiences.

The book titled  The Birthday Gift by Matthew Simpa, attracted a diverse audience of literature enthusiasts, aspiring writers, and community members eager to delve into the captivating narrative woven by Simpa.

Matthew Simpa, known for his poignant storytelling and relatable characters,  shared insights into his creative process and the inspiration behind The Birthday Gift. The book, which explores themes of love, sacrifice, and self-discovery, resonated with many in the audience, prompting discussions about its relevance in today’s society.

During the reading session, Simpa captivated the audience by performing selected excerpts from the book, bringing to life the emotions and dilemmas faced by the protagonist. The vivid imagery and heartfelt prose transported listeners into the world of the narrative, making them feel as though they were part of the unfolding story.

Following the reading, attendees had the opportunity to interact with Simpa by making comments and asking questions. Audience members posed thought-provoking questions about the characters, the writing process, and his journey in the literary world. Simpa’s candid responses and warm demeanour created an engaging atmosphere, further endearing him to his audience.

The session ended with a vote of thanks by Babatunde Oladele, who praised  the intriguing storytelling and noted the sense of connection to the vibrant literary community fostered by the foundation and its members.
