LRF Hosts Ndubuisi Martins for January 2025 Reading

It was an incredible and scintillating evening of reading by Ndubuisi Martins, author of the amazing poetry collection titled Answers through the Bramble. The event marked the January 2025 edition of the Literary Renaissance Foundation’s (LRF) monthly book reading.

Babatunde Oladele, the CEO of LRF welcomed everyone into the new year with a lot of optimism, and prayed for 2025 to be more robust and engaging in achieving the foundation’s goals.

Ndubuisi Martins grew up exploring the beauty of art through pages of intellectual literary artwork, with Niyi Osundare as his mentor, inspired by his love of and allusion to the environment and society in his writings. The session was held on Zoom and streamed live on LRF’s social media platforms, including Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.

Answers through the Bramble comprises of poems that relate to Africa in general and Nigeria in particular. The collection is replete with vivid scenes and relatable events expressed with such brilliance and descriptive power as to ignite the imagination of readers and listeners.

Mrs. Olabisi Olasupo, a teacher of Literature in English and a keen lover of poetry anchored the session with expertise and humour.

The unravelling of political intrigues, the malign phenomenon of godfatherism, and the quicksand that is political greed – all are expressed in a tense, high-stakes narrative rendered in simple diction yet brimming with powerful imagery.

When the window for comments and questions opened, a good number of the audience engaged actively, making the session more interactive and captivating. Martins’ creativity was commended, and the key lessons from the various poems were thoughtfully discussed.
